Group Or Team Training
For small group (5-10) or team training we offer sessions led by Joel or one of our other sports performance coaches. Depending on the groups ability and training background a number of different methods/tools will be used in these sessions including; plyometrics, medicine balls, resistance bands, bodyweight training, etc. We also include speed, agility, and quickness training in these sessions where the athlete’s are challenged in a setting that is similar to their sport in the sense that everything is reactive and challenges their decision making ability. Another big focus for these sessions is teaching proper movement to the athlete’s and engraining that everything they do should be executed with the utmost quality. Furthermore, each session will also include a percentage of time that is dedicated to purposed conditioning which is in line with the sports demands. This is a popular choice for team’s in season or during training camps. Please note that booking space for these sessions is not part of the cost.
Personal Training
For our personal training option we have three different packages available and each one of them gives the athlete the independence to train wherever is the most convinient location for them.
Level 1
Our most inexpensive option starts with an initial consultation between the coach and the athlete over the phone or Skype. This is where the coach will get a sense of the athlete’s history and discuss things like training goals, performance goals, athlete expectations, coach expectations, injury history, athlete limitations, etc. From here we will design an individualized training program which will be updtaed every 4-6 weeks during the off-season. On top of this, the athlete can also enjoy an open line of communication with their coach via email for questions, video sharing, updates, etc. This is the perfect option for those that are interested in quality strength and conditioning, but are living outside of the Edmonton Area.
Level 2
Our mid level option gives you all of the same benfits offered in Level 1, but the initial consulation will also include a fitness testing session in order for us to quantify the athlete’s starting point more accuratly. After the the fitness testing and phone/Skype consulatation our coach will meet the athlete for a 1 on 1 training session (at a gym/fitness center of your choice) where the athlete will become familiarized with the program template, exercise technique, training expectations, proper etiquette, etc. A further benefit to this package is that it includes daily training monitoring which allows us to keep closer track of the athlete and be sure that the program is delivering an appropriate training stimulus.
Level 3
Our most cutting-edge option gives you all of the same benefits offered in Level 2, but includes a 1 on 1 training session at the start of every new training phase. This allows the coach to develop a better bond with the athlete as well as sharpen exercises technique, re-address training expectations, and ensure the athlete is acheiving the correct training intensities. On top of the daily training monitoring the athlete will also receive a copy of a hockey specific nutrition information package (developed by our head strength and conditioning coach Joel Jackson) and do a monthly nutrition analysis throughout the off-season. For the nutrition analysis the athlete will choose one week out of every month to fill out and submit a food diary to us. This diary will then be analysed by our staff and followed up with advice, tips and strategies on how to make your nutirtion give you the most out of your training.
*Please note that for Levels 1 and 2 the gym/fitness center used by the athlete must allow for external personal trainers to operate in their space.
