Calgary, AB- The Calgary Minor Soccer Association, in partnership with Competitive Thread Ltd., announced today that soccer skill-testing sessions will run on July 4th, 2015, in conjunction with the Calgary Cup. Athletes will have the opportunity to test like the professionals and see how they compare to their peers all at a very affordable rate.
Designed to assist athletes with their skill development, utilizing standardized protocols and precision gate technology, the testing sessions will allow athletes to identify both their strengths and weaknesses by comparing their results with peers. All participating athletes will be provided with an online profile that allows them to compare their scores to their peers across North America and track their development over time. Players should come out of testing with a better, more realistic idea of their skills and what level they are currently at.
The Calgary Cup runs July 3-5, 2015 in Calgary. Clubs and athletes will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of professional coaches and post-secondary scouts. Competition will be fierce as teams will be competing against both the previous national champions and the best that Calgary has to offer.
“This interactive way of testing athlete skills will provide individuals with baseline information to proceed with to further improve and develop over their soccer career; whether it be for personal reflection or professional development – the choice is theirs. It’s an exciting addition to a showcase tournament, think of it as another avenue for players to showcase their individual skills” Commented Clint Dunford, Tournament and Festivals Event Coordinator for Calgary Minor Soccer.
The testing conducted during these sessions will be a series of five (5) tests specifically developed to measure a soccer player’s speed, agility, quickness and strength. Each player will receive two attempts for each test and be able to see their scores instantly on the live scoreboard.
The Calgary Cup is open to U14-U18, tier 1-3 and will be held at the new fields at the Calgary Soccer Centre & the Shouldice Athletic Park. Competitive Thread testing will take place on Saturday July 4th and is open to all players. Athletes can register for the testing at http://www.competitivethread.com/sport-testing/events/ .
